The Biomechanics of Poor Posture & Flat Feet

Blog by Vancouver Orthotics, Hycroft Medical Building (114-3195 Granville St @ 16th Ave) | November 13th, 2008

Hi everyone,

The image below summarizes why we do what we do. Every new patient that presents to our office we take them through a postural & foot evaluation to determine if they are candidates for custom orthotic inserts or orthopedic shoes. Flat (pronated) or high (supinated) arches effect the way we absorb forces. The compensation due to poor foot alignment can lead to foot, ankle, knee, hip and lower back pain. Symptoms such as bunions, metatarsal pain, plantar fasciitis, heel spurs, achilles tendonitis, shin splints, patella-femoral syndrom, IT Band syndrom, SI Joint dysfunction and even headaches can result!

We treat the source, not just the symptom!! Contact our office at 604-733-7744 and have Dr. Michael Horowitz evaluate your posture and foot alignment.
