Stay Hip to Hip Pain

Blog by Vancouver Orthotics, Hycroft Medical Building (114-3195 Granville St @ 16th Ave) | September 2nd, 2016

It’s true; the hip bone is connected to the knee bone, and the knee bone is connected to the? You guessed it: foot bone. You don’t need to take a fall to hurt your hip. Hip pain can be caused by arthritis, an injury, a pinched nerve, faulty biomechanics, or from other problems such as osteoporosis. Where you’re experiencing hip pain can help to pinpoint its cause, and ultimately help to find the best treatment. If you are experiencing pain in the outside of your hip, upper thigh, or outer buttock, it is usually caused by problems with the muscles, ligaments, tendons that surround the hip joint. If the pain is in the inside of your hip or groin that usually points to problems within the hip joint itself. Hip pain can also be caused by conditions in other areas of your body, such as your lower back. Of course the nature of your hip pain, whether it be hip pain when walking or hip pain that only occurs at night, will help to determine treatment. If you’re experiencing hip pain, and want to know if custom orthotic inserts could be your solution, give us a call to set up an exam. Custom orthotics help provide better biomechanics and shock-absorption, making the weight bearing structures in the foot, ankle, knee and hip function with greater ease.
