Treatment for Painful Heel Spurs

Blog by Vancouver Orthotics, Hycroft Medical Building (114-3195 Granville St @ 16th Ave) | August 12th, 2016

Spur /spƏr/ : a device with a small spike or a spiked wheel that is worn on a rider’s heel and used for urging a horse forward. A totally optional accessory, and questionably ethical. A heel spur? That’s a calcium deposit causing a tiny protrusion on the underside of the heel bone. Not fashionable, and can be painful. The good news? You may not need to rush to surgery to fix this problem because custom orthotic inserts can help. Pain caused by heel spurs tends to come not from the deposit itself, but instead the soft tissue inflammation at the point of the spur formation. To see if orthotic inserts are the solution you’re looking for, give us a call today!
